Is it possible to rent horseback riding clothes and boots?

I am going to a sleep away camp over the summer, for four weeks. I am doing horseback riding lessons twice a week at the camp. However, the camp requires proper riding equipment (A helmet, boots, and those pants things), which I won%26#039;t use after camp, as I live in city with hardly any riding, and I am not that dedicated to it anyway. Is it possible to rent equipment for the four weeks?

It is so expensive to have to buy all that stuff.

Is it possible to rent horseback riding clothes and boots?
The answer is yes. There are several websites where you can rent horse clothes. However, keep in mind that these rentals are usually for riders who show but can%26#039;t afford the cloths and therefor the clothing rental itself is expensive, plus the renters will expect them back in excellent condition (no dirt stains I%26#039;m afraid). Overall I really don%26#039;t suggest it.

A better avenue would probably be to look into resell. If you are only going to be using them for a short time and never intend to use them again condition, quality and brand-name aren%26#039;t very important. Something basic and cheap should do as long as it looks comfy. I%26#039;d try e-bay or amazon. Also, try contacting the camp and asking if they know of any place to get cloths cheap, they probably have plenty of campers with the same problem.

(P.S. the only thing you really don%26#039;t want to skimp on is the helmet. Pants that are a little loose or boots a pinch tight are bearable for a few weeks, but safety comes first and I would spend the money on a quality helmet)
Reply:If you go to a store that sells horse equipment like you are looking for some let you rent also. My friend rents all the time!!
Reply:i%26#039;ve never heard of being able to rent helmets boots and jod/breeches and for health reasons i hope you can%26#039;t.. go to a tack store and get yourself measured and fitted and then look on ebay... you really only need a riding helmet you should be able to ride in jeans (although they might cause rubs on your legs) and a good pair of shoes with a heel.. have your parents call the camp. they might have helmets that you can use.

EDIT someone suggested a bike helmet! a bike helmet WILL NOT protect you if you fall from a horse!! that is a VERY bad idea and the camp will not allow you to ride in a bike helmet!
Reply:You could just ask your tack shop. Maybe you can return the lightly used gear within the amount of time they%26#039;ll allow returns, or maybe they%26#039;ll have consignment gear that has been used and is cheaper.

Also, I would encourage you to stick with horseback riding after camp, the benefits are enormous!
Reply:I haven%26#039;t heard of renting, but many tack shops have a consignment section where you can buy used clothes/boots for WAY less than new. That%26#039;s where I buy all my 7 year old%26#039;s boots and pants since he%26#039;ll outgrow them quickly (just like the previous owner, so they%26#039;re still in great shape). You should probably get a new helmet, though, since you%26#039;ll never know if it%26#039;s safety has been compromised with a fall before. You can get a Troxel Sport for $25 or less.
Reply:Im not sure about renting...that would be neat for other people, will you be riding western or english? I know nothing about western (sorry) but in english I dont think you can do that, but for a helmate a bicycle helmate should work, the pants are breches or (english) riding pants, you should be allowed to use jeans, you should also be able to use rain boots for boots, anything with a heel, if you cant use these things, go to petsmart wiht a stateline tack in it, never mind i was going to find a site with all the locations, but i just read they have been taken out of all petsmarts! that sucks!!! I dont live near one, but anytime we are near one we go in and get a bunch of stuff! urg! anyways you can go to tack stores and try the stuff on, but look for them on sale, and explain to the store owner what your looking for and for what! but the jeans, rain boots, and bicycle helmates should be ok, but contact the camp, probably the onlything they may not like is the helmate, which really arnt that expensive!

GOOD LUCK!!!!
Reply:nope. that i kno of.
