QUestion from my friend:Can you wear half chaps with tall riding boots (English)??

I already told her my answer, but she wants another opinion. Thanks!

QUestion from my friend:Can you wear half chaps with tall riding boots (English)??
I am thinking that you mean can you wear half chaps over the top of tall boots (either dress or field boots). The answer to that is yes, but it would be ridiculous to do so. The purpose of half chaps (or gaitors/gators depending on where you live) is to give you a similar feel and grip as riding in tall boots. So to put them on top of tall boots would be pointless. The could actually damage your tall boots if the half chaps are made out of rough suede by causing rubs.

So, either the half chaps with paddock or other shorter boots or wear tall boots. Not both of them together at the same time.

If they want to have half chaps that look like tall boots, they do make those and sell them so that if you have black short boots that are polished up when used with these types of half chaps it looks just like tall boots until you get right up on top of them.

Hope that helps.
Reply:There is no reason to. Hunt ot field boots are tall and go up to right under the knees, and are designed to create a close contact with the horse and saddle, and protect your calves from getting pinched when jumping. Half chaps are designed for the same purpose, without the expense of the tall boots, and can be worn with jodpher (short ankle) boots.

Reply:You could if you really wanted to but thats really weird.
Reply:No, that would be stupid.
Reply:You can but you really don%26#039;t need to. Half chaps are designed to support your leg like tall boots so it would not really make sense to wear them together. I guess you could though if you%26#039;re thinking you want to keep your tall boots clean or something.
Reply:You can if you like, but there really isn%26#039;t a point. If you%26#039;re wearing tall boots you shouldn%26#039;t have to wear half chaps.
Reply:That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard! That%26#039;s like wearing your underwear over your pants... What purpose would it serve? LOL
Reply:I suppose you could but I can%26#039;t imagine why you would want to. Besides, the zipper and seams might really scratch up your boots.
Reply:you arn%26#039;t supposed to... and even if you did your half chaps probably wouldn%26#039;t fit aroud your tall boots.
Reply:Of course you can, but why would you want to? The need for wearing half chaps is eliminated when wearing tall riding boots. Your friend will look foolish. But to each his own.
Reply:You can. But there%26#039;s no reason because the purpose of half chaps is to wear them with paddock boots. Most peole ride in paddock boots while training, because they%26#039;re more comfortable. You wear half chaps with the short boots to keep your pants from riding up and to not ruin your breeches, and there%26#039;s the added bonus of extra grip!

I%26#039;ve never heard of someone wearing half caps with tall boots! Just tell your friend that it%26#039;s impratical!
Reply:Well you could do but I don%26#039;t see why you%26#039;d want to. Half chaps are intended to be worn with short boots to protect the lower leg from chaffing on the saddle. ( Also I know a lot of people wear them when they ride in jeans as it stops the leg part riding up or spinning around - some of these are professional riders so hey ho !)
Reply:No, why would you want to? Half-chaps are an extension of the paddock boots, so if you are wearing tall boots why would you need them?
Reply:Tall riding boots that go up to the knee? Half chaps are not designed to be worn with tall boots.

Half chaps are designed to be worn with short boots that go up to just past the ankle.
Reply:Nooo... Why on earth would she even want to? Half chaps are made to be with short boots only. That would totally defeat the purpose of spending all that money on tall boots lol.
Reply:you can certainly do it although it defeats the point of half chaps...half chaps are mostly used with paddock boots because you want to be able to get in and out of the riding apparel quickly and without the hassle of tall boots. also, they enable you to ride without having to wear britches.
Reply:Uh i don%26#039;t think so.. half chaps are meant more for paddock boots. If ur wearing tall boots there shouldn%26#039;t be much rubbing. But if ur friend wants to.. i guess no one%26#039;s gonna stop her.
Reply:well..no.you shouldnt need them cuz the boots would do that purpose.but you could use full chaps
Reply:lol..funny question!..of course...in riding..it doesnt matter what you wear..for training..(well..not in england anyways) and most people dont care what they look like..I know theres a fashion..but..is it really that important.

Unless you mean for dressage or show etc..wear WHATEVER you want. That combo sounds fine..especially for a sunny day :]
Reply:Of course you can! They even sell half chaps just for that purpose! Look on different websites that sell riding apparel and you will see! Well i hope this helps!
